We all love a good deal, and this is perhaps why discount cosmetics are so tempting. Getting cosmetics at what seems like rock-bottom prices may make you feel like stocking up, but there are reasons behind the too-good-to-be-true discounts. Let's look at things you should consider before you spend your hard-earned cash.

Products that use low-quality ingredients can be manufactured at much lower prices. These savings can be passed onto the consumer along with a host of possible skin issues. Discounted cosmetics may save you a few dollars, but the cheap ingredients may not be the best choice for your skin. Always check the ingredient list, if possible, to see what exactly went into the product you're purchasing.

Expired Products are another reason why cosmetics may be sold in bulk or at discount prices. Always check the expiration dates on the products before you buy them. Most reputable suppliers or stores will not sell products that are past their shelf lives, but you may find that the product you're buying has only a month or two to go.

Fake Designer Cosmetics are another danger when buying discount cosmetics, especially if you're doing your shopping online. If you can find your favorite MAC lipstick at a fraction of the normal price, think again. There are manufacturers that specialize in fake designer cosmetics, and these may look like the real thing, but won't be. There's no telling what goes into these products.

Discount cosmetics will always be around, and if you choose wisely, you can still get a quality product for a good price. The key is to shop with your eyes wide open, so to speak, and to make sure that what you're purchasing is of high quality.
